Mikrotik company manufactures Routers & Switches, they have developed their own IOS(Internetwork Operating System) i.e., Mikrotik OS. Mikrotik devices are mostly used by ISP(Internet Service Provider). Mikrotik has hierarchy of OS level from (0-6). Level 6 devices are controller devices.
This Tutorial shows how to install & run Mikrotik Router OS on System. To do this follow the below steps
Step 1 -> Open Mikrotik Official Website https://mikrotik.com/download & Download Mikrotik Router OS x86 ISO File
Step 2 -> Open Virtual Box, Click on ‘New’ & Name the operating System
Step 3 -> Allocate the RAM to Operating System, RAM size depends upon the usage of your device. For Now select 512 MB.
Step 4 -> Create Virtual Hard Disk & add ISO file to the controller IDE
Step 5 -> Bridge the Network Adapter of the Mikrotik OS with your LAN in order to access the router.
Step 6 -> Start the Mikrotik OS, it will show the wizard select all feature & click ‘i’ to install the feature on Mikrotik OS
Step 7 -> After Installation remove the Mikrotik ISO File & reboot the Mikrotik OS ( Click ‘q’ & press ‘ENTER’ to reboot the System.
Hence, Successfully Installed.
Default Username & Password of Mikrotik OS are mentioned below
Username: admin
Password: (Blank)
Step 8 -> You can access Router through Winbox.
Winbox is tool to access Mikrotik devices GUI on LAN. Winbox discovers Mikrotik devices on LAN. This devices can be access through IP Address & MAC Address as well through Winbox. Download Winbox from Mikrotik Official Site https://mikrotik.com/download & open Winbox.
